An eventful month in my home province and a peaceful day in Hue have gone by. Now I continue my journey with a long train to Saigon, feeling so eager to discover the most populous and hectic city in my country.
I like travelling by train because it is so fun to look at the landscapes through a train’s windows, watching paddy fields, rivers and mountains passing by endlessly. What’s more, you have more space on a train to contemplate the world. I usually walk to the canteen, enjoy a cup of coffee and think about good memories or future plans.
My time in Vietnam has been so far so great, although there might have been minor problems. I’ve had a “productive” month, attending three important weddings: one for my young sister, one for my dear cousin and one for my close friend. I was also active in many union parties and drank quite a lot of beer. Admittedly, I have never consumed so much alcohol abroad in the past 6 years.
And especially, I got to know many new interesting people, such as the elegant bridesmaid team coming from Hanoi, who are all my young sister’s close friends, and Ong, my 7-year-old, cute and witty cousin who never stops chatting and making jokes with me :))
Now I look forward to getting back to work with more significant changes in my career and life. And hopefully, the time in Saigon will help me gain more insights before I return to Finland.
Anyway, my idea about life is unchanged: happiness is a journey. We learn from yesterday, live for today and hope for tomorrow. The important thing is not to stop questioning, not to stop being curious about this beautiful world
